Community Based Tourism Development

Community Based Tourism Development Community Based Tourism (CBT) is a rapidly growing sector of experiential tourism development. It creates fiscal opportunities that serve to benefit the whole community through the sharing of traditional community way/s of life. Additionally, there are a number of key ‘non-fiscal’ benefits that also support commercial endeavours of this nature. Benefits that extend far beyond the community itself to include areas such as: cultural exchange, environment, cultural heritage preservation, and so on. Research suggests that CBT traveller experiences are extensively shared via social media and word of mouth, effectively becoming a cost neutral promotional avenue for these businesses.

One of the most important benefits of Community Based Tourism is how enterprises of this nature instil pride in a community. In doing so it demonstrates to next generations the true value of who they are as people/s and their rightful place in global society. In essence, CBT can provide a sustainable economic future for them through the celebrations and sharing of traditional knowledge and values. Our Community Based Tourism Development training modules guide participants through each stage of establishing, managing, and succeeding in a new or existing CBT business.
